The Pet Travel Scheme
The Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) has replaced the 6 month quarantine rule for both cats and dogs that enter the United Kingdom from certain countries including Australia, New Zealand, EU countries and the USA as long as they meet the rules. This scheme has saw the introduction of pet passports in which all relevant detail is entered, this also acts as an entry document.
The scheme also allows for pet owners in the United Kingdom to take their animals abroad and when returning there is no need for them to be placed into quarantine. Animals not covered by the pet travel scheme therefore still have to be quarantined for 6 months.
